Project summary:
The project “Seed by Seed: Side by Side” will take place in Sardinia (Italy), where will be hosted the group of young participants from the 5 European countries partners. The decision to realize the project on an Island is the result of a careful reflection on the needs of local young people: in a place surrounded by the sea the need to feel part of a community is real and urgent to solve. As the sea, the digital world made by virtual relationships represents a barrier which creates isolation and marginalization: this project will take place in an island to symbolize that idea. The ambition is to break barriers and encourage the creation of real relationships, social inclusion and European citizenship in an intercultural environment, starting from individuals to create connections among young people. The project aims to increase the active participation of young in their community by creating an European net-work, based on self-confidence and trust on others.
All the partners involved in the project are represented by young youth workers that already met during international projects, active in youth field, who are aimed to create new opportunities for young. We designed our project in a way that it has two perspectives: on the one hand we will use the methods promoted for the European projects, we will adopt non-formal methods to enhance the active participation of all the young people involved. On the other hand, changing the point of view, our project will be a metaphor: the activities will take place in an island to give the idea to break barriers and increase socialization and cultural exchange. We will adopt the fundamentals of Social Agriculture as a tool to create synergies by designing a balanced eco-system. Permaculture will be the main focus of the project and we will use it to promote the creation of a group of participants which will take care of an integral system, creating connections, respecting nature and human systems, developing practical tools to create awareness regarding the use of their own hands to design something new and to take actions.
The project is designed to achieve these purposes:
– promote and encourage teamwork, supporting young people to build European networks throughout the creation of eco-systems as a way to create connections and promote cooperation
– promote integration and interrelation among youth and increase their self-confidence, giving them the chance to express themselves. All the practical activities will help participants to express themselves, they will have the opportunity to design gardens, to be creatives using natural materials and to be free to stay in an open safe space
– increase self-esteem and self-confidence about young people’ talent for their personal development: the expression of participant will help them to better understand their attitudes, their abilities and talents. They will increase their self-understanding throughout their active participation to the activities
– increase awareness about European opportunities for youth and help people to find projects useful to their self-expression and personal development. During the project we will give to young people new tools and knowledge about how to find new opportunities and how to increase their horizons
All the activities are planned keeping in mind that our project will be practical and concrete, an experience where to use hands, minds and emotions. We want to create an opportunity to feel free to express ourselves. Our main goal is to create a project for young people that gives the space to take experience, that helps to be aware about the learning process and that it’s useful to communicate with other for a network of young people. Through this project we want to push and encourage young people to be more and more active in their communities and to motivate other young people to join them. The activities will encourage cooperation between young people from different countries and through leaded workshops they will have the opportunity to discover the local hosting community and to engage with the local youth community. The project is a learning path: a path where young people will begin feeling part of a community, resources important and fundamental for their Land, part of a common world made by youth. The focus are the human beings as resources to take care, to protect and valorise by discovering the wonderful world of Humans. The land and the root will be the connections among traditions, connections with communities: what rises from the land it’s something to respect, protect and to take care as the relationships.
