The project is funded by the European Commission, Erasmus  + programme, KA210-ADU-1743FF05Small-scale Partnership in the field of Adult Education (Granting authority: Erasmus+ National Agency INDIRE IT02)

Objectives:

CIVICA aims to enhance the knowledge and awareness of adults from diverse backgrounds, especially unemployed individuals aged 18 – 40 and N.E.E.T.s , by introducing innovative models of civic agriculture and sustainable agricultural practices. The project highlights existing opportunities in this field to inspire participation, encourage the launch of new civic agriculture initiatives, and increase citizen engagement in agriculture across both rural and urban areas.

Activities :

  • Baseline study of best practices, policies, and funding opportunities in civic agriculture in Italy, Greece and Croatia
  • Study visits in Italy, Greece, and Croatia; local workshops and events
  • Digital platform for learning; manual, video materials, mentoring tools and an exhibition
  • Promotion of the results: multiplier events in Italy, Greece and Croatia, and a final conference to disseminate results and promote citizen engagement and social inclusion in agriculture

Main target groups:

The primary target group: adults aged 18-40 from rural and urban areas in Italy, Greece, and Croatia, particularly vulnerable groups such as the unemployed and N.E.E.T.s. This includes individuals exploring career options, university students, and recent graduates in fields like agriculture and environmental science. It also involves rural adults with agricultural ties who need motivation and resources to pursue it professionally, as well as urban adults interested in agroecology, organic farming, and green professions but lacking practical agricultural knowledge. Additionally, young adults considering professional relocation are targeted.

The project also engages local farmers and agricultural entrepreneurs in Italy, Greece, and Croatia. This group covers those practicing or interested in agroecology, organic farming, and civic agriculture, as well as small-scale and family farmers aiming to connect with communities and urban markets.
